๐ Not gonna lie, this was probably one of the most fun and satisfying GoodGym tasks to date... ๐
All Aboard Club provide fun model train activities for children with ADHD/autism and other neuro-diverse children in a relaxed and inclusive space. They'd asked us for a hand carrying the equipment in and getting it set up at a daytime session in Biggin Hill Memorial Museum. Rebecca and I cycled and we met Stephen who came from nearby.
We met Richard and Lindsay who organise the session. After setting up a couple of signs outside, we carried the track in and got to work piecing the track together.
Richard explained how the track worked and how far we should stretch through the museum. We got straight to our hands and knees, figuring out complex routes for where the trains should go, putting in crossroads, forks and bridges. It was a real treat from the brain and super satisfying when you finished a section.
When we were done setting it up, we spoke to Richard and Lindsay who explained how the sessions were so stimulating for children and how some are happy to follow the trains around the track whereas others get involved with extending the track.
A great session and hopefully we'll be back soon!
Aboard Club runs play sessions for autistic and ADHD children, where they can build their confidence, develop their social skills and just be themselves. We provide a safe, understanding and inclusive environment for the children to enjoy their trains. The children are in charge. They can run trains around the track, or build their own track. They can choose from boxes and boxes of trains, track, tunnels and bridges.
