Whilst the rest of London sat in the pub, 6 runners trekked across to Bermondsey to garden for Age UK.
It's England and it's the summer so inevitably the weather was wrong and of course we were going to talk about it.
Starting off sweaty
We set off trying to avoid the hair tumbleweed on Rye Lane and had to reckon with some dubious moped drivers as well as keeping up with some speed demon leaders.
Age UK are having a remembrance service in their garden for all of their service users in a few weeks and needed it tidied up. We set about weeding, litter picking and path clearing as well as using a lawn mower that had been rather neglected to mow the grass.
Light fading, towards the end of summer
As dusk and the bugs arrived, we cleared syringes, sweet wrappers and lots of cigarette bugs as well as a load of weeds and unruly grass.
Despite missing Bake Off, everyone got on with the task at hand making light work. Even though a certain someone managed to set off the security alarm! (Sorry neighbours).
Sun down but still very muggy, we set off home pleased with our hard work and the fact we'd run 6.5km at the end of a tiring day.
We're off to the farm next week! Yippee! And it's a GoodGym social tomorrow here. Also, look out for our own Beth Hoskins helping to make the Paralympic Games in Rio happen!
