A Sting in the tail
Just when we thought Spring had sprung ,the beast from the east made another appearance on what was one of the coldest nights ( if not the coldest ) in the 1 year history of GG Worthing.
With the task cancelled due to frozen ground it didn't stop our intrepid group meeting up for some running and fitness.
It was great to see Ros, Duncan , Belinda , Anne and Beth ( who was running not unusually late! ) Special mention to Tamsin who couldn't make it tonight together with get well vibes going to Paul and Roisin all of who were gutted to miss our special evening.
I just love wind , it blows me away
We set out on a feel good run along the prom with the biting easterly wind acting in our favour with a turbo push from behind. This led to a feel good vibe of speed together with lots of chat.
Then look who appeared out of the sunset ! Was it ? Could it be our very own GG time traveller? Beth Yes it was ! Always wonderful to welcome back this bundle of energy back to her home town.
We then headed inland for a steady run back to Splashpoint where we found a sheltered spot for some fitness.
Sprints away and no burpees in sight
Duncan played the sick card played for burpees so the whole group got off them this week. Please don't think this will happen every week - A doctors certificate may be required in future!
As it was so cold the group kept moving with 6 x 200 metre sprints with a jog recovery . We then kept warm with some press ups, tricep dips, bicep curls, shoulder and rotator presses finishing with a wall squat against the swimming pool.
A right battering
To celebrate 1 year of GoodGym Worthing together with Belinda's black t - shirt and 52nd good deed the group headed for the warmth of Chipwick for a treat night.
We were joined by Gill who I must give a special mention to.
Gill completed the incredibly gruelling marathon The Moyleman on Sunday admidst snow , artic wind and massive hills in East Sussex. Many congratulations , GG love and respect for this truly epic achievement. Gill only has 5 more tasks until her black t shirt will be landing!
Belinda also shared the limelight tonight with a montage of memories presented to her of just a few of the photo highlights that she has starred in.
I was also luck enough to be given my very own 'Sunny Worthing' black tee shirt From Belinda and John to mark my 50th task with a fabulous rhyme . I will certainly wear this with pride! Thank you so much.
Hopes and dreams
It was great to have a chat with the group about all things GoodGym together with looking forward to the next year.
We also talked about up and coming individual running challenges including Beth with Colchester Half marathon then Brighton Marathon on 15th April also Anne with the 3 Forts Marathon on 6th May and her glamorous slip on the downs with her training run yesterday ( sssshh no one saw! )
Big shout out to Ros who has recently joined the group . Her running is improving in leaps and bounds in the few short freezing weeks since this lovely lady has joined our group.
Non running stuff included Belinda's scan on her knee , how to release Duncan's shoulder muscle , my Australia trip and Gills DOMS!
All in all another fantastic evening
Thanks everyone :)
