Got soaked on the walk to visit JJ this week, hard to imagine only a week ago it was so hot and dry out. Today’s conversation turned to JJ wanting to clear the house of unnecessary items so the family won’t have to “once I’m gone”. This is a tricky one, the usual placations of “there’s no rush, you have a long while to go yet” seem a bit trite when you are talking to an 89 year old who wants your advice on what to them is a genuine matter of fact issue. The only thing I could offer was to check with the family before throwing away anything incase it holds special memories for them. JJ gave me a sheepish smile and said they had already got into trouble for that. Made me think about sorting some of my old tut out.
