We gathered together in the warmth of the Mirth on a cold, blustery Wednesday evening contemplating our upcoming run in the rain. We had the pleasure of welcoming Kathryn to the Goodgym family!

After a warm-up and introductions, Ruari led the way to Tottenham Marshes - a new task 2.5 km away. It's a lovely expanse of grassland and wildflower meadows and supports an array of species , including Kestrals, Wasp Spiders as well as Sand Martin in the summer months. It's also common to see cyclists and dog walkers making use of the Lee Valley Towpath, which extends 26 miles from London all the way to Ware.

5 Goodgymers ran 5 km to help to maintain the footpaths and keep them clear of litter. We searched and scoured the area for litter, with the help of our new furry four-legged friend, Ruari's Dog Dalton. Along the way we were particularly surprised to find the remnants of half an english breakfast - a cartoon of eggs and a rather battered can of baked beans - although unfortunately they were quite passed their expiry dates.

After half an hour, we returned the litter pickers to their hiding place and left the rubbish, ready to be collected in the morning. To avoid freezing we made a hasty retreat back to base.

Well done everyone and thank you for welcoming me to Waltham Forest - you collected an impressive amount of litter in such a short space of time! I hope to see you all again soon.
