It was one of those days of alternating sun and showers. I managed to shelter from the latest downpour by the entrance to Mr J's, and it was easing off as Dan arrived. We made quick work of moving a rail of clothes and then it was back out into the drizzle with our first load of rubbish for the bins. The items were all too large for the rubbish chute so we went down the 5 flights and out to the bins then back up to the flat for 5 trips with various bin bags of VHS cassettes, crockery, kitchenware and, mostly, clothes. By the time we were done the sun was shining again and I returned to my soaking wet and disgruntled bike which had been waiting outside throughout. I would have smugly told her about the benefits of volunteering and the byproduct of staying dry, but bikes can't climb stairs so she wouldn't have been much help.
