Kicking off the January challenge the weather dropped to prove the worth of the 8 good deeders last night, out to help locals recycle their Christmas trees at Deptford park. We were joined by Victoria, Adam and Laura from our neighboring areas Lewisham and Southwark which was lovely. We also had Martin who joined for his first ever good deed! Welcome to GG Greenwich Martin.
After meeting at the task following poor Alex getting struck down by a positive lateral flow, we were ready to go hunting for Christmas trees. The first time I did this task we found quite a few trees, however the last time I did this task my group found no trees! Determined to right this wrong we split into two groups and hit the local streets to seek out trees.
After spotting a few still nicely decorated, and none on the street we considered offering a service to take the decs off in order to get some good deeding. When we did find a tree outside it still had its stand on it, we did ask the owners if they wanted us to remove the stand and take it to the recycle point, but after we removed the stand, which was quite an effort as the screws were very tightly done up... the owner asked if we left it so he could take it with his daughter another day.
While the task might have resulted in no trees actually collected we all enjoyed the walk around the streets and having a chat.
