Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Tonight we ran around 4km to help out at one of Croydon’s food banks
Tonight we headed down to some alms houses near Reeves corner to help Fatima, who set up the food bank a few year ago, begin to clear a patch of land beside the food bank. Her vision is to grow vegetables to add to the food she can give to people in Croydon who need some extra support at the moment. We weeded, tidied and cleared leaves by the light of our head torches and filled 3 large bags. We are looking forward to heading back there soon to help Fatima with her project and watch the vegetables grow.
We headed off to a bridge for a fitness session involving lots of steps however the gates were locked and we decided climbing over probably wasn’t a good idea (or legal!) so we headed off to the underpass for an impromptu circuit session and Dom managed to recruit a passerby who was interested in what we were up to.
We had two new runner today - Alicia and Jordi - it was lovely to meet you both and hope to see you again very soon.
As it was the last Tuesday of the month we headed off for our regular social at Boxpark to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. We somehow got roped into taking part in a pancake tossing competition – well done to Maddie, Dom and me for standing up on stage trying to toss cold limp pancakes in public – some good promotion of GoodGym though as the compere for the evening knew Fatima who joined us too and let Boxpark know what a great organization we are! And of course we all had our red t-shirts on.
Next week we are heading back to south Croydon to help at a local school – there’s some painting, digging and general moving furniture around so the more hands the lighter the workload.
