On Saturday morning four GoodGymers met up in Upton Park to give Ms S a hand with her allotment. Now that she's retired she's looking forward to spending time there growing vegetables and flowers but needed a bit of help to get the plot ready.

It was a big area with the remains of an old shed at one end so David and Bryon got to work digging up paving slabs and a big metal post while Hassan and I got rid of a large piece of corrugated iron. Once the big things were out of the way we turned over the soil on the whole plot, picking out bits of rubbish along the way.

It was hard work but the glorious sunshine and chatting to Ms S about all the different things that we do with GoodGym made it one of our favourite tasks so far this year.

How amazing it was to look down the length of the garden to see what we had achieved. Even more so seeing Ms S so genuinely pleased with it all.
