A scorchingly hot bank holiday Monday saw our numbers dwindle but 5 super heros resisted the lure of the pub garden, beach or late afternoon barbeque to make it to Goodgym and rack up another good deed!

Our task was to carry out a litter pick along the River Path on behalf of Rivercare - with the aim of keeping plastic and other rubbish out of the water. We arrived at the start point and were surprised to see a number of jellyfish swimming in the river.

Splitting into two groups starting at either end we litter picked our way back to meeting close to the skate park which tends to be the worst area for rubbish, from previous visits. While picking around this area we picked up 2 recruits who had been enjoying a sunbathe but joined in picking up copious cans, plastic bottles and even a bike tyre.

With the job complete we posed for team photos with the "I AM TEAM GB" banner before heading back to base to drop off the litter picker sticks and heading off to Alexandra Park, where we set up a"High 5" effort/recovery relay over a challenging distance.

Some great running from everyone ...even those trying to short cut the circuit on the 1st lap by veering off the tarmac path..... and we finished with one more gentle lap and final stretches as the sun set over the edge of the park.

Next week will be the Goodgym Ipswich's 2nd birthday. We will be celebrating by heading to the Nelson pub after the run for some food and drinks. Everyone Welcome .
