After our last group run to Changing Lives, we were desperate to return and help do more painting to get rid of the pink walls for good.
Cara was prepared as ever and even had festive tunes, jam tarts and mince pies to help motivate us!
Alex had returned to us for this special task on his way back home for Christmas - but Paul, Alex and I were slightly late because we had been busy attempting to wrap a bicycle for Christmas (see pic).
Luckily, Legendary Leanne had taken charge. In fact, when we arrived we bascially just caused trouble.
You've only been here five minutes and you've made a right mess - you've not even got any paint on the walls! - Leanne told us off
We soon remembered why we missed Alex. Within ten minutes he had paint all over his hands, on his shorts and had found himself the only roller that didn't roll.
This one doesn't spin- it glides!
The paint looks really terrible when it is wet. It is like a miracle, when it dries it looks brilliant but during the task you cant tell which bits you've done.
We finished off the three main rooms and then it dissolved into madness as we broke out into the hallway, kitchen, bathrooms and the 'secret pink room'.
If you see an unpainted wall, paint it! - Cara
We even started painting up around the stairs to cover all the black marks where people had taken bikes up there. What we hadn't realised was that the hall lights were on a timer- there was a scary moment when everything went dark and we tried to find the switch without moving and stepping in a paint tray!
With about 7 rooms painted, we called it a day. Changing Lives still need help between Christmas and New Year so keep an eye on the Facebook group for details!
