Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Intrepid solo-missioner Steve here. Today's task was in that Trendy Dalston, in Gillett Square which is a "Multi-multi-multi-multi-use community space" according to the wonderful staff there. Skaters grind specially made rails, toddlers clamber over giant foam shapes, MCs and DJs take care of the music, tourists and locals munch their way through delicious and diverse food, the older kids hula hoop and play table tennis, and the mature(ish) ones among us stroke their chins pensively as they play giant chess with one another.
Needless to say all this activity is not just wonderful, but well-equipped. And it's this equipment that had to be wrested out of the hands of the toddlers / everyone enjoying it as the fortnightly music and fun festival came to an end. Gazebos were packed up, kids' climbing structures were dismantled and everything miraculously fitted into the two shipping crates on site for storage via an intense, giant-sized game of 3D Tetris.
I was rewarded with a delicious beer and wonderful conversation as the sun went down. There are few communities as diverse as this, anywhere. The guys here are really appreciative of the help, and I hope to be joined by some more Goodgymmers next time!
