12 runners ran 8k to help paint an office space for a Regeneration Charity

This Wednesday, in a slight change of plan, Camden GoodGym Runners met up and ran 4k to Church Street Neighbourhood Centre in Paddington. We were there to help Paddington Development Trust finish off a paint job in their office space.

Help for Regeneration Trust

Paddington Development Trust are a regeneration Trust. They provide employment and training services, legal and general advice and offer space to a number of community groups. This includes ‘Working With Men’- who attempt to engage the local male population; a group who rarely access services available to them. Corporate Groups had started the paint job but had failed to finish the task- so they contacted someone who could!

4K through Regents Park

We stuck together on the way there- dashing through Regents Park rose gardens past numerous 'helpful' hecklers, ("Come on you lot" and "You can go faster"- are both really inspiring, I think you'll agree). Monika from the Trust welcomed us in and directed us to a big pile of ladders, long rollers, brushes and bright green paint, and gave us clear instructions on the areas she wanted 'greened'.

The 'Shoehorning GoodGym-ers' challenge

The space was pretty small- so those without a job were given a few CORE exercises to keep them busy. However Planks aren't quite as fun as paint brushes and paint- so we tried to shoehorn all 11 (cough..minus me) people into the corner to help get the job done. In less than half and hour we had finished all the paint and pretty much covered the entire wall.

Up the pace

On the way home we decided to up the pace, breaking into a couple of different groups and racing for home. Natalie, Sam and Joe lead the way (without use of the Map) and we all followed suit. We made it back with a bit left in the tank- so we finished with a mad sprint to the line (aka Somers Town Community Centre). Nice work.
