Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anita (she/her)
Four runners braved snow flurries on Easter Monday to begin the new planting of The Arcade Rockery in the Buccleuch Gardens, Richmond. Over the next few month GoodGym Richmond will be working to transform this neglected spot into a fragrant, flower-filled garden room.
The main task of the morning was planting 5 Canarian Palms in the brick planters in front of the Arcade, a listed building that marks the sight of Buccleuch House, demolished in the 1930s.
Naomi and Richmond GoodGym newbie Melanie did a beilliant job of weeding and planting, whilst Anita relocated a Rosemary bush from one of the planters to a new position by the footpath.
Harry helped to water in the palms by lugging trugs of water and he also did a fantastic stint tidying and watering at the nearby Three Pigeons Plot.
A very warm welcome to Melanie, who we look forward to seeing again soon, and a big 'Thank you' to Alsfords of Mortlake for the compost that we used for planting the new palms.
