Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bournemouth runner
Laura and I met up at Bournemouth Pier under some lovely sunshine. Laura had run a few miles to get there already and she was looking to do a loop run with the mission in the middle. I was going for a simple out and back run.
We had around 3 miles to get there and the prom wasn’t too busy which was nice.
We managed to get there right in time and Mrs I welcomed us through to the garden.
Mrs I is lovely and very bubbly too. One panel had fallen down with the recent high winds and another was quite shaky too.
Laura and I picked up one of the new panels and after Laura used her superior intelligence to figure out which way was up we then figured out we had to lift it all the way up to then slot it into the grooves for it to slide down.... It was pretty windy and this part wasn’t easy at all. Good thing we have super human strength and were able to lift the panel up, hold it in place and then pull it down through the grooves.
We tested some other ones and decided only one more was necessary to change out. We removed the old one which was reluctant to come out. Had the other one in place only to realise a strip of the old one was still at the bottom and would get in the way....with some expert manoeuvring and communication skills we got rid of the rotten wood and had the new panel slotted in perfectly. No help from a prickly holly bush either!
The lovely Mrs I offered us some water and after a chat about her garden and what GoodGym do....and a bit of a gossip about her neighbours Laura and I set off back to our homes on different routes.
Felt great to help Mrs I out, hope we get to help her again soon. She was super grateful!

Great mission both, and such good weather for it!
