Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Brent Beat the Clock, Leaflet Drop!!
Magical, summer rays were welcomed with relish by the Brent Brigade of red shirts!! Housekeeping underway and the happy hum of catch up chats filled the air. Familiar faces and golden oldies made up the team and a warm welcome back to die-hard original Irwin, who's long awaited return had finally come.
Stepping outside for a warm (very warm) warm-up on the last of the Mondays in June, the team were drenched in a golden glow of summer as they carried out the drills.
Warm-up done and muscles fired up, an air of competition whistled through the air. As the troops started their engines, coach Ellie, explained the task at hand......
The mission was simple - Deliver as many of the local junior athletics club - Track Academy's, summer festival leaflets as possible in the allotted time and cover most distance to win. Bonus points could be obtained via selfies with cinemas, stations or places of worship!! Team first back and late comers gained and lost points as well. Complicated?!?!? Nooooooo it only took 7 explanations for the sharp minds of Brent GG.
Now the whoops of excitement began and swept around the group as they were split into teams. All of a sudden, there was fire in their bellies and determination in their eyes. Tactical mapping and final shouts of friendly banter, then 3,2,1 and they're off!!!
Whizzing through Brent, GoodGym was everywhere, racing up stairs and hot footing down estates, letterbox stuffing and heads down onto the next. Half-way through and the selfies were in play. Tweets-a-flying and hashtags popping, Who's In the lead? How much time is there left, have we posted them all? Quick carry on. With Twitter a splatter of competition action and mileage covered..... Who knew the prize offering of freebie gear could get those legs moving so quick!!
In what seemed like the blink of an eye 45minutes was time called to close and hurtling back to base were Isabelle, Claire and Catherine - Team 3's a Crowd. Close behind were Rasi and Bodil aka team "Celeb plus 1" (Only 3 this week for Rasi's following fans) and bringing up the rear were Irwin and Sadhana - Team "Still of interest, places of interest" (photos of post boxes just don't count you guys!!!! LOL)
Three's a crowd and Still of Interest, places of Interest managed very impressive 2.5mile routes with half packs of leaflets delivered to doors and loooaaaddss of bonus point selfies achieved. But storming the lead were Celeb Plus 1, with 4.5miles covered and so many bonus point selfies, that we lost count (check the piccys).
A massive congrats to the whole troop, the effort was fierce and camaraderie insane. But a mega shout out and well-done goes to Rasi and Bodil the WINNERS of the first ever Brent Beat the Clock, Leaflet Drop. Prizes to be collected next week, followed by a long awaited visit to the pub...... que the return of Pritesh!!
A wicked night, loads of fun and another task smashed out of the park.
Until next time......
DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE
