Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Cold, wet and very, very WINDY weather saw in the last Monday of November. But even the gale force was no match for GG Brent's all girl crew, who blew their challenges apart.
As the team trickled into Willesden one after the other, the female force began to form. Fast females in the mix and one very welcome blast from the past - Laura Lambert, an original Brent GGer, stolen back from Camden for one last flirt with Brent in 2015. YAY
As the girls caught up, coach Ellie stepped in, ready to explain the nights proceedings. Spicing things up, Monday night's run would be a competitive affair........ As the plot began to unfold, the teams were split and tasked with a promo leaflet blast on behalf of the friends and Local Charity Brent Mind. However there was a twist.... A whole lot of points to be won and prizes up for grabs for winners too!!
Do Gooding, break the internet selfie madness, hashtagging good deeds all over the borough, this was the order of the night.
Before long strategies put in place and rivalries established, the teams set off, red tees disappearing into the night.
As quick as a lightening flash, the photos began to pop up and pop in and some serious mileage was getting clocked up and down the NW zones.
As the timer ticked down, the competition heated up. More and more leaflets were dropped, each team delivering their allowed amount. Selfies were also the name of the game and some classic piccys of teams popped up all over the place, from Kensal Green to Queens Park.
As the final minutes ticked away, Ellie waited patiently for the first teams to run back through the gates....... They're in!! First ones back were "Grease Lightening" in the form of Laura Sharples and Sadhana, who bagged an extra 5 points for the swift return.
Second back to base was "Battery Died" Isabelle and Laura L and bringing up the rear, despite their technical malfunctions. Catherine and Claire, the final team to dash back as the klaxon rang out, risking a late return for the illusive extra mile out to the cemetery point spot.... was it worth it, we'd soon find out.
After a tense moment (and poor demonstration of Ellie's maths skills) the final tally was done and in first place, winners of the Xmas paper chase were........ Grease Lightening woo hoooooooo Danny Zuko would have been proud.
And there ends the last GG Brent of November, it came and went with a fire cracking bang, but now we're ready for Christmas Crackers & Jiggle Bells...... See you next week.
DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE.
