Twelve terrific GoodGymers gathered at the Phoenix Cinema to run to Friary Park to help the volunteers The Friends of Friary Park.

As we gathered at the start we complained about the heat a bit (it was so hot) and welcomed tourists Paul from Camden and Rita from Haringey 💪

We set off on the long run with Abi and Vicki kindly back marking. it's a good training run: varied terrain, hills, (Did! I! mention! the! heat!), and 4k each way.

Arriving at the park, we met up with Claire and Fiona who had made their own way there while our task owner Richard supplied us with some much needed water and explained our tasks. Dividing into two teams there would be litter picking (with plenty to do after the bank holiday) and weeding the pathways.

With half an hour's effort, we got loads done - Kirsten finding the most litter I think--while our gardening team of Andras, Fiona, Rita and Saba filled at least four bags with weeds.

Richard was delighted and we made time for a quick team photo before setting off.

We had a handful of the group who opted for the bus home while I led the remaining runners and Abi back marked. It was extremely hot and sweaty but we were cheered by a nice conversation with an extinction rebellion activist and naturally the party rings I had for us at the end of the run..!

Thanks for coming team. See you next week.

This week's Barnet Biscuit is: Party Rings.
