Report written by Lisa Hamilton
It was another evening to Celebrate at Goodgym Stockport! Its Goodgyms 10th birthday, 10 years of people getting together doing amazing things, being a community, helping one another, through running, and variuos other means, supporting each other and generally just making the world a better place.
Our task last night was to coincide with suicide awareness day, which was last week.
The task was to add notes and positive statements to 4 bridges in the Stockport area, as well as helpline information for various charities to encourage people to get help. All together we added over 100 statements on the bridges, and once again a member of the public approached us to thank us and that the statements do make a difference.
To mix things up a little, we did 2 bridges and then ran to a local park to do a fitness session that involved some hill runs, core strength work and upper body moves to make sure we got a bit of everything in the session. We then ran to the other 2 bridges to add another 50 messages, and since we all lloved fitness session number 1 we thought we would do it all again! And so back to the park, this time for some running fun, we ran a lap of the park 3 times, trying to beat the speed each run, and everyone did it, everyone beat the bat (time.....but there was a bat watching and flapping too!) Well done everyone, i was tired just watching and supporting you all. You were great.
I would like to say Goodbye to Bernard for now, who joined us on his summer break from uni, have great fun back in Brighton keeping up the good work, its been fab having you as part of the Stockport crew.
Have a great week running folks,
