Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This morning I met up with Laura for a mission in Barnet for Mrs M. This was my second visit to Mrs M's (a fact that I didn't remember until about 10 minutes into the mission 😅), but it was lovely ro return to a place so far up the northern line that not only did a stranger greet me in the street (truth), they also wished me the best of good health on such a sunny day 😎
Mrs M has reduced mobility and isn't able to do as much of her garden as she'd like. Over the course of the year, her front garden becomes very over grown, obscuring access to the water and gas meters. GoodGym were asked if we could help with this.
After greeting Laura (who had just completed a 10 mile training run in preparation for the Ealing half marathon on a few weeks 🎉), we introduced ourselves to Mrs M and got to work.
As I remembered where I'd discovered the water meter last time, I concentrated on hacking back a lot of greenery in the central part of the garden, while Laura switched between central hacking and tidying up the garden path to Mrs M's door to make it safer for her.
It was a hot day, and we were a little bit unsure exactly how much we'd be able to get done (some of the greenery was Titanic in how it however over us!). However, we buckled down and pleasantly suprised ourselves at the results. Within 90 minutes of general chat and gardening, we'd managed to achieve our main objectives and to completely fill Mrs M's green waste bin! Satisfied with our progress (and Laura needing to get a plane to Italy 😅), we made our goodbyes to Mrs M, and took a brief selfie while eating doughnuts (to make everyone jealous, obvs).
Lovely working with you Laura! Enjoy your holiday! 😎

Great one, well done! Top running, Laura. Love the before and after shots, Liz. Both of you earned that doughnut 🍩

Barnet
It will help make the reservoir cleaner and safer for visitors and the many plants, birds and animals that live there.
