12 GoodGymers ran 3.5km, smashed a time trial, spread 1.5 tonnes of pea gravel and gardened.

Welcome to newbie Katie from Manchester, she is hoping to having a GoodGym going up there soon!

In the GG news this week:

  • PSB is leading Back to Basics sessions for the next three Tuesdays, teaching us to run more efficiently! Sign up for next week here.
  • Our friends over at Chalk Farm Foodbank wondered if any of you want to take part in Vitality London 10km for them on Sunday 10th July, no minimum sponsorship, raise as much as you can. Contact Adrienne on info@chalkfarm.foodbank.org.uk if you are interested.
  • We have monthly drinks next Thursday at the QE Rooftop Garden on Southbank, Pritesh says it’s going to be sunny! More details here.

With two tasks and lots to do everyone got their GOODful in the session! Polly led a group to Skip Garden, which is a moveable vegetable garden right in the heart of one of Europe's biggest redevelopments. The task was to spread 1.5 tons of pea gravel around the garden to help keep the project functioning!

1.5 tons!

The team got stuck in getting their hands dirty with wheelbarrowing, shovelling and raking the pebbles around the space - leaving no patch uncleared.

Meanwhile PB led a group to St. Mary’s flats to meet Jon Magee the task owner to help tidy up the communal space and make it look pretty for when summer arrives…

Emma and Sarah got stuck into planting new flourishing flowers in pots using extra compost and a watering can to get that photosynthesis going!

Photosynthesis!

While Frances, Katie and Shirin cleared two areas of rubbish, particularly cigarette butts and got their hands dirty with some speed weeding!

After a quick team photo we headed to Skip Garden to meet up with the other group to take on our monthly Time Trial (approx. 880 Metres) around Granary Square.

Everyone did amazingly and there were even some Personal Bests:

  • Ben - 2.43
  • John - 3.18
  • Beth - 3.25
  • Isabelle - 3.41
  • Shirin - 3.53
  • Sarah - 4.16
  • Judith - 4.17

Brilliant work everyone, so much good done and amazing running! Good, fitness and more!

Sign up for next week here, we are off to help the Butterfly Society and back to Skip Garden.

PB out.
