Kike and Trainer Simon joined Islington Cycling Club for their regular food bank pick-up service for Ringcross Community Centre. The social space has been operating a food bank for many years now, but have increased their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic to look after vulnerable members of the local neighbourhood.

This was Simon's first trip out with the team, but Kike has helped out a few times in the past, and took control of an electric powered cargo bike for our route. Our plan was to cycle from Holloway to Highgate and Hampstead and back, picking up donations from Gail's Bakery stores on the way. Folks who cycle around London will know that Highgate has some significant slopes for a typical 2 wheel bike, let alone a larger delivery vehicle! However, Kike's experience of cycling on London roads for 15 years was evident, as we safely navigated our way to our key destinations.

This is a fantastic initiative, set up by smashing volunteers, and Goodgym Islington are looking forward to helping out with future missions and tasks very soon. Watch this space!
