Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Post a group run there are three questions to answer to decide if it was a success or not. Did I laugh a lot? Did everyone keep their tops on? During drills did people look at me like they wanted to kill me?
If the answer to any of the above is a yes, then in my mind it was a success. Three yes' and we're going places.
Well I had a marvellous time.
A short one mile run to Durand Gardens gave us time to have a chat with each other and amuse passers by as we run en masse down Brixton Road.
Durand Gardens is well nice. Dead posh. Maybe a bit too nice though. With hindsight this wasn't necessarily the kind of community task we like to put out hearts and souls behind as it didn't benefit as many people as we'd like. But we went for it anyway, if you're going to do a job, do it proper eh? Sanding down and painting the railings. Painting is always fun. Especially when done on a lovely sunny evening with some good chat. Chuck in a few sprints around the gardens, squats and thrusts and you have a good little work out. And we got rewarded with glasses of cold squash which felt positively majestic in the heat.
After the task we headed over to Albert Square. Disappointed at the lack of Queen Vic pub we did more sprints and prison squats. Not even the Mitchell brothers would have been able to hold the squats for as long as GGLambeth.
We finally headed the mile or so back to Brixton Market pretty tired, pretty mucky and high on the smell of turps.
Next week we head to Vauxhall Food Bank to help followed by some 800m repeats to get our speed endurance up. Sign up and come along.
