pick it, bag it
5 GoodGymers made their way 7.0km to help their local community in Newham.
- Wednesday, 22nd of October 2014
Thank the heavens, the stormy weather from last week was nowhere to be seen as we paced through the Olympic park in a leisurely fashion after carrying out a few dynamic stretches. Armed with a new running light across my chest I quickly donned the name Iron man - thank you Alex, I quite like that title.
It's like attempting to pick up a single rice grain with chopsticks.
We arrived at Wanstead flats ready to hit the streets with our litter pickers and hoping to collect our bodyweight in rubbish. The route proved to be a lot clearer than we anticipated, so we ventured off into the darkness (with the help of my Iron man light) cleaning up whatever we came across with skill. By the end we all came away with a new found respect for street cleaners, it's like attempting to pick up a single rice grain with chopsticks I proclaimed.
After 30mins of our services and a team effort of bagging up by far the heaviest item of the night; a wet jumper, we made our way back to the park in 2 groups for our cool down.
We clocked up an impressive 7.5k on the run, another successful evening for Newham
Same time next week guys
Kirsty
