The next episode in the long running saga dubbed (by me) 'Bancroft Forest' started with Liz' travel adventures. Bags safely locked away we had a little walkabout around the area discussing the options for wildlife hedges & bug hotels, natural vs fancy-made ones. Turns out that some of the work done on a previous session actually resembles a natural logpile style bug hotel, so some little additional works are now planned to make it 'proper'. Work on a wildlife hedge might have to wait a little until we can establish what rules govern the area, if any...

Brain picking done, time for some litter picking as well. Bins got filled & emptied & filled again, with a variety of items found:

  • bottles & cans

  • several mugs (related to the kitchen sink found last time?)

  • little red catapult (not as strong as Liz thought, see pic...)

  • large (homemade?) battery

  • Mercedes wheel hub (not the rest of a Merc unfortunately)

  • and ofcourse used condom wrappers, seemingly a Liz special... best to ask her about that! ;-)

As a finale some logs discovered in the undergrowth were collected, bound to be of some use further down the line and the fence was cleared of a dozen or so ties & bits of rope, remnants of all sorts of posters etc over the years.

Any feedback / info / advice on bug hotels etc will be very much appreciated, including whether to go all natural or use recycled items as well.
