Happy New Year Everyone!!

It was wonderful to be back for our first Goodgym task of 2024!! Two weeks away from you lovely people felt like a looooooong time, so I couldn’t wait to be back! And the Goodgym weather gods hadn’t forgotten about us either…. they delivered dry weather after days of non-stop rain (I was getting ready to start building an ark!).

We kicked off 2024 with a litter pick and a pint (well, a pint for Maurice and a coke for me - and maybe a few crisps thrown in!). We set off with our pickers and commenced our mission to make the streets of Crewe a bit cleaner – However, we weren’t at all prepared for just how much litter there was going to be. I’m not sure whether it was litter from Christmas revellers or just a build up over a period of what can only be months…. there really was endless amounts of it :(

Maurice and I collected 4 huge bags and we probably could have filled the same again several times over… the rubbish on and around the grassed area near the Dorothy Flude Retail Park was appalling. There were cans, drinks cups and bottles galore, lots of vaping boxes and canisters and some rather unpleasant smelling items that we’d rather not give too much thought to…. (hence the pun!).

Maurice and I totally earned our drink and crisps at Hops this evening as we’d covered a fair few steps and picked up a fair few pieces of litter.... and it’s surprising how heavy those bags get when they’re filled with glass bottles!

It was lovely spending time with you tonight Maurice. I really enjoyed our chat and putting the world to rights on numerous things!

Have a great week and look forward to hopefully seeing you next week!

Take care Nicola xxx
