Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Another Thursday night and we found ourselves at the Hummingbird Bakery smelling all the delicious cakes. Yes, we were meant to meet at Cafe Nero at 17:50 for a 18:00 food pick-up, but unfortunately all the food had been sold. Sam quickly booked in a 18:30 pick-up from Hummingbird Bakery, but used the same drop off location.
When Sam and Liz arrived at the pick up location, Hummingbird Bakery already had two boxes of cakes prepared and awaiting our arrival. Yet, the staff kindly made an extra box of cupcakes. Once we were all set, we were off to Step Forward.
Stefan was running slightly late, but caught us up on the 1 mile walk to the charity that offers support to the youth in Towersl Hamlets. We walked through Spitalfields Market and down Brick Lane to reach the charity on Bethnal Green Road. All in all, it took about 15 minutes. On the way there, we talked about GoodGym records (to be smashed) and averaging how many missions it would take.
When we arrived at Step Forward, after buzzing on the wrong door, we dropped off the cakes to the councillor that was in and rated our experience (5*) on the app. We all went our separate ways, but we knew we would see each other very soon!
I won't be here for the next two Thursdays (hopefully, I can leave the country), so please feel free to setup your own weekly Food Drop walking session. Just download the app and create a community mission.
