On a Weird Weather Wednesday that didn't know if it was winter, spring or summer, a small but mighty team of five, ran 6km, through the south to; Lift & shift one serious stack of weighty wood for Surrey Docks Farm!!

Thinking that no one was going to 'show up' and 'show out' in this soggy shower, I was pleasantly surprised when not one but two newbies Becky and Victoria breezed into Old Spike with fresh enthusiasm and smiles all Round. Joining our new lovely ladies was resident couple on deck Chris and Hannah. And would you believe it, for the very first time on my watch, it was a dominant female vibe!!! I think Chris our only fella was equally terrified and delighted at the prospect of rolling out with his very own harem of gorgeous gals!

So with our tiny but tenacious team, we set to work on the urban orienteering that lay out before us and can I just say - my goodness , how Southwark is such a diverse and interesting borough!! We sped through estates and lanes and shopping parades, then into woodland surrounded by grassy knolls and trees, like we'd suddenly been transported out into the countryside, it was mad!!! Finally through suburbia and that ickle sprinkling of nature, we were eventually spat out once more into the concrete jungles of Southwark and sights of Canary Wharf in the distance!! So, after 45mins of hard running, we arrived at our destination for the night - Our fantastic old friends "Surrey Docks Farm" and the smiley wonderful Lizzie greeting us at the gates. Although we did feel a bit sheepish for our small numbered crew, we set to work like demons on the task ahead, determined to prove that 5 pairs of hands can do just as much as 20!! Pow Pow.

For the next 45 minutes we bent over backwards, squatted for England, shifted, shuffled and lifted a total of 28 planks of extremely heavy wood, with Chris and I even carrying the last 2 planks stacked together in one go, just before the countdown timer chimed its last chime! Boom!! and then with time finally up and a suitable amount of ridiculous photos taken - Que..... A plank on a plank...... Genius!!!! We set off back into the night with gusto and glee at all that we had achieved! Leaving us one by one to peel off for home we said goodbye to our girls, leaving just Chris, Hannah and I who ran the last stretch to our "sneak a lift" home on the Surrey Quay train!! Well deserved though as in total we had clocked 4.3miles of running, who wood have known, through all hard work and funning!!!

Back at base and a mini stretch of the mini crew to finish. Just enough time to exclaim "What an awesome night!" Fun filled, challenging, great task and an even better party of 5 xxxxx

See you next time!!
