Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
We were a slightly smaller than usual group last night, but just as perfectly formed, as our bulb planting task at Cultivate London confirmed!
After our warm up at the Town Hall where we discussed our top tips for happiness (go for a run, talk to friends, get outside - and I'm just adding GoodGym in there too!) we headed off for Cultivate London.
This amazing independent social enterprise works to improve health and wellbeing across London by encouraging and supporting local communities to engage with their green spaces, repurposes waste land and trains young people in horticulture.
Our first job was taken on by super strong Leanne and Emily, whose challenge was to shift countless bags of compost so the team could access the bags of stones on the bottom of the huge pile. What a workout! There may have been a slight leaning tower of Pisa moment, but the two of them beat the reverse giant Jenga challenge and freed the stones. Nice work!
Meanwhile Alan - who has just hit an incredible 100 parkruns, amazing! - and Michelle took on the epic task of potting up hundreds of hyacinth bulbs so they could be moved to their new site. With this being the second stint of bulb potting, they were like a finely oiled machine and the final result was (with Michelle and Leanne's help) a massive 125 pots planted. Way to go!
Next up was a coin flip fitness challenge with a coin that seemed intent on giving the group an easy ride - we suspect it was because Jon said he knew how to rig the game, although it may just have been that the fates were with you last night!
I'm just confirming next week's task, so watch this space. Until then, happy running everyone!
