Share the love

Georgeta, Gillian and Sheila helped out at the community allotment on a very warm evening. The first priority was to fill the water butts and give the seedlings a good drink. Some of the courgette leaves were looking very sick, so Georgeta carefully removed them and put them in a bag for disposal. we dug over some of the long bed and planted a pumpkin and about 50 leek seedlings. Apologies to the ants that we disturbed who had made a home under the weed suppressant membrane! Meanwhile Gillian picked up some stones from the flower beds for later use as weights, and then it was time to say goodbye and go our separate ways

This task supported

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
