What an interesting mission this was!

Today we participated in The Big Clean Up which is an event organised by Your City Your Home. They want us to take pride in Newcastle and tackling the litter is a big part of that. This weekend they are encouraging everyone to get out and collect litter as part of this big clean up.

You wouldn't drop or dump these in your home, so why do it in your city? We want you to take pride in Newcastle by not littering or fly-tipping anywhere.

Amy arrived first and was greeted with a trio with cameras that we weren't expecting! We were joined by the council who were filming all of the clean ups that were going on this weekend. Amy and I both had a surprise 1 to 1 interview with the camera, we were not prepared. Although, Amy was excellent at this, speaking really well to sell the benefits of GoodGym!

Paul arrived slighted later and managed to dodge the interview. He did have to model some litter picking action though. We then did a cringe inducing group run for the camera before getting underway with the task - tailed the whole way by our trio of paperazzi!

Over the hour long task we managed to collect 5 bin bags full of rubbish from the park. The best finds were probably all the parts of an entire toilet and a whole soda stream! Our camera operators asked to join in the litter pick towards the end, so we have a few unofficial good deeds to add to our total.

Once we were done, it was time for round two of interviews. This time answering questions for a project lead by students from Newcastle University. They had some Paxmanesque questions which Paul had some great answer for while I tried to dodge the questions! I'll leave you with the hardest question we were all asked.

If you had 2 million pounds to spend on improvements in Newcastle, what would you do?
