Report written by Lewisham runner
My regular litter picking along the flood plain of the Ravensbourne in Brookmill Park saw a menagerie of Inner London wild life - in addition to the family of Egyptian geese, there were two young foxes watching a heron watching them, dozens of parakeets, several moorhen and, my favourite, the iridescent blue blur of a a kingfisher racing upstream towards Lewisham. The heavy rain at the beginning of the week had brought a fair amount of litter down with the high flows including some broken bottles, which could be dangerous to some of animals, but no Bangles. Around a black bag’s worth of rubbish was cleared.
