Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Robin
When we arrived and Mrs N showed us the garden, we weren't quite sure where to begin. Mostly because it looked quite tidy already. Compared to some of the gardens I've encountered. All plants were in pots. Mrs N asked us if we could help her re-pot some plants that looked sad, because she did not like the creepy crawlies or slugs (there was lots!) and perk the place up a bit. There was another reason she was a little scared to go into the garden, she'd seen a fox and thought it might be sleeping in the little shed. Peter made sure it wasn't and tidied up the shed at the same time. There we were pottering around the garden, when I lifted up one pot and squeecked, Peter came to the rescue but wondered which of the crawlies made me freak out exactly (as I'd been fine so far believe or not).. I couldn't think of the word and being Dutch I just said "pissebedden", which is what they're called in my language, and then Peter said; That's also what I call them. When we'd done all we could do with pots and plants, Mrs N came out and we chatted a little about the different plants looking a bit sad. the amount of rain that's fallen recently and how well her other plants in the front garden were doing and why that could be. She enjoyed the extra advise from us (not-so) plant experts on drainage and space, and was very grateful for the help! And we were happy to get our hands dirty.
