So this group run was a special one for many reasons, but most importantly....
**CAPRICE JOINED THE SACRED 100 CLUB
What an amazing achievement by such a lovely person. She is such a great person to have as a friend and runner, always happy to talk to everyone, funny, up for anything and easy going too! Always makes me smile when I see you have signed up for a group run! We love you Caprice!!! Congratulations on hitting such a great milestone!
This evening we ran to Boscombe to Bournemouth Foodbank to meet up with Alex for the first time since he has taken over the reigns there. It was lovely to have Andrea, Sarah and Mark back after a few weeks away, some busy through work another away exploring the world! We have such a busy group so it's extra special when we all manage to come together.
We were also super lucky to have Lydia be able to join in again, and we hope you can come more regularly from now on!
The run there was great as it was at an easy pace and everyone ran in pairs and chatted away. And not because it was mental health day, but because it's what GoodGym runs are about. Talking to people, meeting new people, running, volunteering and being outdoors. All things that help improve our mental health.
On arrival Alex and Charlee let us know what was needed and we got going with sorting through their harvest donations, their busiest time of the year. Despite them having quite a few donations they are running low on milk and juice. So if you're at the supermarket please make sure you buy some extra and add it to the Bournemouth Foodbank donation.
We rushed through trying to find dates on tins, then trying to figure out if they were before a certain date or after...then having to find if it was a meat product, or a sauce or vegetarian friendly and so on! A good little work out for the mind!
We then finished a little late which meant Neil and I had to run back at an uncomfortable pace to make sure we got everyone's bags out in time before closing! .....yes we did it....yes we are semi-heroes.....
Next week we are on flyer drop duties which should be fun and easy going too!
No-one in the community should face hunger. They provide 3 days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food, and offer support to local people in crisis who are referred to them by support agencies.
