Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Honestly, genuinely, seriously…. How many GoodGymers does it take to build a shed???

The instructions said 2 people. My thoughts on this statement? Not even questionable, a strait up lie……

Our task for the evening was to head down to Morningside Community Centre and meet the lovely ladies Sarah & Beejal from Eco Active and help them build a shed on a nearby estate which would form part of a new kitchen garden.

We arrived promptly at 1910 after a steady jog from HQ, headed up the steps and began ferrying all of the equipment needed to build this magic box over to its new home.

As things started to unfold we knew this was no ordinary 30-45minute job. This was serious business. We split into two teams. One team raked the area and filled the compost boxes with leaves and the other team set about what would be a 90minute job. Did we mind? Of course not, as long as the tea was flowing and we were warm we were happy.

Now alarm bells started ringing when the instructions advised you to split the 30mil, 40mil, 50mil and 60mil screws into piles. Sirens should have started ringing when the instructions advised placing point A to B but not before D had been removed from E using a tool not supplied. BUT we are a GoodGym and this is what we do.

Slowly but surely things began to take shape. The bass was on the floor. The two sides were up, the hinges screwed onto the door. All the leaves were nearly gone from the ground and we were alllllllllll smiling. A request went out for a left-hander with small hands to add final touches to the structure. The roof went on and then the felt for the roof. A lock securely and strategically screwed onto the front door and we were DONE…. Job was a gooooodun…. We all jumped into the shed for the obligatory selfie and prayed the wind would not blow our pretty building down with us in it.

Probably the hardest task but one of the most enjoyable. We all worked together to get the job done so thank you all for staying a bit later than usual.

Please continue to do small things with great love….

Have a great week, some I will see tomorrow and the rest of you next week…..

Yeah! Let's go back and paint it in a week or two, if it's still standing.

Lots of comedy wood splitting & felt ripping moments. Eco Active didn't seem to mind/ notice. Good fun, thank you!
