This morning we helped prepare the flower beds in Saffron Central for a flower based Pride flag
This morning we met up at Queen’s Gardens in the middle of Croydon to work with Ally in Saffron Central - Europe’s largest pop-up urban saffron farm. Croydon PrideFest is returning to the borough on Saturday 15th of July and there will be a large event in the Queen’s Gardens and today we started work on helping produce a large Pride flag in Saffron Central. There were six large beds all filled with pots which had been used to grow the saffron producing crocuses (or is it croci?). Our job was to clear the beds of hundreds if not thousands of pots to make way for brightly coloured flowers and art installations. Each bed will be a single colour and the finished product will be a gigantic colourful Pride flag – it’ll be an amazing sight. If anybody has spare plants in red, orange, yellow, green, blue or purple please bring them along to Ally ir if you’re feeling crafty you can make something in one of the colours which can be put into the beds – we are trying to thing of how we can make a GoodGym themed red objet d’art – ideas welcome.
After we’d finished we headed up to Park Hill Rec for a gentle run then a fun circuit sessions with some squats, plants, triceps dips, press-ups, bear crawls and crab walks and my personal favourite, skipping, because it makes everybody smile.
The Starter sessions are to introduce new runners to GoodGym and give them a chance to see what we do and also to tell them about Coach run and Missions. So we were happy to welcome Rob, Hayley and Rosemary to the GoodGym crew where they were able to chat to the regular runners – it was great to meet you both and hope to see you again soon.
We’ve got another Starter Session next Saturday too so hope to see you all there if possible – this one starts at Park Hill Rec and we will be helping build an irrigation system.
This Tuesday’s run will be our one-year anniversary - I can’t believe how quickly the year has gone and how much fun it’s been. We will be heading down to the Salvation Army and then to BoxPark for a celebratory social so don’t forget your pennies.
