Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This evening I took the opportunity to fit in a quick mission before the Camden group run with Dharmesh and Amanda.
Our mission was for Mr A. Mr A had recently had a sofa bed delivered and he'd hoped to start using it as his mobility improved. Unfortunately, it proved a little too big for his flat and it needed to be removed so that he could order a new one. Also, one of the bulbs in his living room had started flickering constantly, and he hoped that we'd be able to replace it with a new one.
After introducing ourselves to Mr A, he introduced us to the sofa bed. It was a beast of a thing that made me glad that I'd brought along some tools in case of emergencies! However, we decided to give it a quick shimmy at the doorway first to double check whether or not it could get through without dismantling. The sofa bed obviously liked being shimmied and obliged us by bending space and time to practically slink through the doorway with a minimum of fuss. That done, and the furniture moving gods blessing us with a ground floor flat, it was a matter of minutes to take the sofa bed outside for collection.
Next came our second task of changing the light bulb. Frustratingly, the ceilings were pretty high and the bulb was recessed, which meant that even with a small step ladder, I was the only one of us able to do more than tickle the bulb. That was fine to begin with, when merely prodding the bulb meant that the retaining spring sprung randomly into the air (alternative title: the spring is in the air - duck!), but was more of an issue when it came to clipping it back in (I simply don't have a light touch 😅😬). After consultations with both Dharmesh and Amanda, we worked out a system for me to try that seemed to fix the new bulb into position, and with the spring now in action, we made our goodbyes 😄
It was fun working with you both on our 20 minute mission: see you guys soon! 😄
