Hail one minute, bright sunshine the next - classic British springtime ! I set off with a raincoat and a pair of sunglasses to pick up some essentials and a few treats for Mrs D, who has had to self-isolate since the start of the the outbreak due to her health. Serendipitously the showers started just as I reached the shops and I paused for a quick stretch under the porch of the Curzon cinema before calling Mrs D. Mrs D had prepared a shopping list for the things she needed from her local Sainsbury's and thanked me profusedly for helping out. We chatted about the joys of garlic and how having food you really enjoy becomes even more important when you can't go outside and your opportunities for socialising and leisure are limited.

Feeling like a Ninja in my black lycra, gloves and makeshift mask I did a quick recce of the aisles in the local Sainsbury's and as suspected didn't come up with the goods. Fortunately it was only a hop, skip and a jump to a bigger store on the Tottenham Court Road which had all but one of the items on Mrs D's list. Success! I dropped off the shopping outside Mrs D's door and she couldn't have been more grateful - I assured her the pleasure was mutual as I was happy to help out. With the skies darkening but the sun still shining I stepped out into the streets, eerily empty of the usual crowds of tourists and commuters, and enjoyed a quiet and peaceful walk home.
