Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This morning I met up with Stefania (my new buddy) for a rainy tidy-up of Mrs W's garden.
Arriving within a few minutes of each other, I could see that Stefania had come fully prepared like the pro that she is, whereas I had had to buy a hat from a pound store en route after forgetting a hood ๐คฆ Nevertheless, our spirits were both ready and willing to garden as much as we needed to to help Mrs W ๐
After introducing ourselves to Mrs W, who was surprised to see us turn up in such inclement weather, we got started on the front yard.
The tidy-up instructions were very simple: to clear up some of the smaller debris in the yard, to pull up the weeds and to leave behind "at least a little bit of green" and a carpet. This last part was definitely the hardest as it was pretty much all weeds!
Work-wise, Stefania wielded the fork while I mostly just pulled weeds up by hand (a brief interlude with a spade assured me that spade work was not discriminating enough for leaving behind "at least some green").
After only 25 minutes or so, Mrs W popped out to say that she was happy with what we'd done manually, and that if we could just spray some weed killer down, she would be happy. We were equally happy to have such a short mission in the rain and mud (we both wanted to feel clean again!) We finished off a few little bits, thanked Mrs W for her offer of refreshments, and went on our (sort of) merry way (the selfie we took for the mission report makes us look less happy than I thought we were, possibly revealing the true state of our heart ๐๐ ). Hopefully it'll be drier at Tree Musketeers next week so that Stefania and I can chat a bit more comfortably ๐
