Report written by Dave Mansfield
8 runners ran a variety of distances through a variety of weather to get to Tottenham Green to help with a variety of tasks.
With the weather forecast looking like light rain for the evening we'd hoped our trip out to Westbury Banks Nature Reserve would be safe, but a site visit earlier in the day showed the heavy rain had made the banks too slippery.
A last minute replacement trip to Tottenham Green was sorted out, but it's only next door, this messed with some Marathon training plans!
So the group split in two. With the Circus crew doing a loop round the block, and the long run group doing laps of Downhills Park. Some more than others. Julie and Rita ended up doing nearly 5 miles!
Once we arrived at Tottenham Green, Laura had down a quick recce of the park and identified 3 areas that could do with some TLC.
Clearing the hollyhock seedheads from above, and leaves from below the railings. Digging grass out of the flower beds. Pulling dandelions and thistles out of a different flower bed. And litter picking around them all.
I'd planned to play a game of Evil Cones, but underestimated how long it would take to gather the 3 groups and get the tools put away. Sorry about that, another time! Then back to base for the stretches. Remember people, the ones you don't like are the ones you probably need to do more of.
Light gardening work on Tottenham Green or at the Marcus Garvey Library
