This week saw a bumper turnout with 15 amazing runners coming along to lend a helping hand at The Ealing Foodbank!

We had 4 brand new attendees in Adam, Rowan, Harvey and Ella along with some new faces to Ealing with tourist Gosia and 'accidental' tourist (his words not mine!) Micheal K who has now moved nearby. It was also great to welcome back, Helena and Rosie and to see Michelle, Emily, Michael C, Ronan, Ed and Heidi back out in force!

We started with a quick warm up in the local park where I confused everyone by shouting numbers at them while making them run in circles before our run to Hanwell where we were met by task owner Janet at The Foodbank.

We were given a brief tour of the amazingly organised facility and Janet told us about all the great work they do from this central hub providing to the 6 different foodbanks in Ealing. A few of us had come bearing donations from the monthly shopping list they post in the local supermarkets every month, so it was great to see and hear about where our contributions would end up. And it was also fantastic to offload the jars or peanut butter, deodorant and cans of soup we'd carried in backpacks and as hand weights on the run to the centre!

We were then taken to the outside space we were helping to clear this evening and boy were there a lot of weeds to be tackled! But with a lot of hands and good set of tools we set to the job in hand. Everyone really got stuck in and although the task had seemed initially overwhelming by the time we came to depart it looked drastically different!

With the night drawing in we made a quick dash back to the park for some (moonlit?!) drills before everyone headed home for the evening. I can't believe it's dark at the end of these runs now, don't worry though I have some tricks up my sleeve on fitting in these fitness sessions as the darker months roll in!

A massive thank you to everyone who came out this evening and hopefully I'll see you all next week when we will be heading back to The Log Cabin in Northfields, you can sign up here. Also don't forget that next week is also our monthly social so we'll head to the pub afterwards for a bev or two and a bite to eat. Keep an eye on the Facebook Page for more info!

See you then, happy running!
