Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
Not for the first time, a hiccup on the airport meant James P was not able to make tonight's group run - not even his considerable amount of airmiles was able to rescue him. However even from abroad he was still keeping the crew in mind, sending suggestions of alternative tasks for us to do!
After a few stormy weekends, the weather seemed to be calming down, with just a bit of breeze and dropping temperature to content with. Happy to see Jennifer managed to escape work on time for a change! We grabbed some plogging kit and went off to a foot/cycle path along the A12, where James P spotted the litter on a previous run.
Initially, it seemed like James might have been mistaken, but the further we got along the path, the more we discovered. Not sure how many shoes Jen & James C came across, Linda found a hat, John took care of a nappy and lots of the usual rubbish popped up all over the place. One item was left for Mother Nature to deal with - half hidden in the bushes poor Mr Rat had found his last resting place.
At the end of this path there was a conveniently positioned bin to leave out harvest behind (or another tactical move from the distance from James P?) so the hands were freed up to go for a run. Taking a bit of a gamble on the route, we discovered a long closed passage under the railway line was re-opened so allowed a new route to explore.
Having worked up a sweat on the close to 5k run (my Strava got a bit confused on the plogging) James C took charge of the post-run stretches indoors.
Thanks all for joining in tonight. Next week James P will be back.
P.S.... rumour has it that Saturdays community mission will be James C's 50th task!!!!
