Red-phone letter day
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Saturday, 15th of August 2020
A quick cycle down to Borough took me to Ms A to assist her with her phone. She'd been struggling to use a new mobile phone that had been gifted to her due to it being considerably more complex than her previous phone and as such she wasn't really able to use it in a meaningful way.
I was able to help her in the best way I could and she was immensely appreciative, and will hopefully be soon able to make and receive more calls on her shiny red phone and be more connected with her loved ones whilst she is stuck at home.
Ms A is a wonderful character and she was very entertaining whilst I was there, cracking me up with her quips and showing me photos of her past jobs including a stint in Parliament a few decades ago which all looked very majestic.
Due to her phone issues she'd not been able to pick up the phone to have the mission time confirmed with her, and she wasn't expecting me. As such it was a lovely surprise for her, and along with the earlier delivery of her favourite newspaper which she has been without for a while, she stated that this a real red letter day, and it was most fulfilling to see how pleased she was.
