Report written by Sallyann Hardwick
On a drizzly grey early morning 4 Goodgymers headed off to Manchester. Many thanks to Heetu for driving us there.
Today was the day we were to run the Manchester relay.. 26.2 miles between 4 of us. There were pluses of running alongside people doing the full marathon. Laura (leg 2) had people remarking on how fresh she looked as she embarked on her leg at mile 6 not realising that she was not doing the full marathon. Steph (leg 3) managed to get a finishers medal instead of the relay medal (as they had run out at her station) so that surely means she has officially done the whole marathon. Heetu (leg 4) beat us to the finishing line as the rest of us battled full trams and closed walkways to get there. Between the running and the walking from place to place in between we all have clocked a half marathon each
The day was full of fun, the atmosphere was incredible and we were all spurred on by all the high fives and power up signs people had made to push for energy. Many of the hand made signs had some fantastic slogans and the whole way was supported by people out to support the runners.
We all got so much out of today. It was fun, the sense of achievement was immense. We have worked hard to build up our confidence and running to do the mileage . Running longer on cold wet Monday nights before tasks, and fitting in runs around family and work commitments.
This is the second years Goodgym Liverpool have run the Manchester Marathon Relay - here's to seeing other Goodgymmers from other areas coming along next year because did I mention how much fun we had......
