Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On the first GoodGym Bristol run of the year we welcomed a record number of fine Bristol people for the run. After weeks of rain and wind, we were blessed with a beautiful morning, with blue skies, still and the perfect temperature for running.
After a quick welcome and warm at Roll for the Soul we ran across the centre of Bristol and up Park Street to Brandon Hill. It’s always tough going uphill straight away, but the whole group did fantastically well. We completed a lap at the top of the park and got stuck into the task.
This week’s task was to help the Friends of Brandon Hill to restore the Alpine Garden at the top of the hill. The task was to clear away any weeds and leaves that weren’t required, barrow all the waste to the storage in the centre of the park, rake the leaves out of the pond, yank out brambles, chop back the brambles, and generally clear anything else we came across.
The group attacked the hill like a swarm of locusts, leaving the alpine garden unrecognisable from before, and ready for planting the new garden. The speed and volume of work was amazing, well done everyone!
To finish up we completed 3 laps of the park, with each lap slightly quicker than the last, before running back down the hill and across to Roll for the Soul for a warm down. It was great to see so many old and new faces at this week’s run. We’ve got another run next Saturday, see you there!
