Great to see Juli, Kanika and Sula out for our second mini-bus cleaning session for Driven Forward. As always it was lovely to see task owner Tiia too. We are helping get the mini bus ready to sell, since the charity no longer need it.
Juli, Sula and I picked up where Juli and Sheila left off last time - using our fingernails and an old nectar card to scratch and peel the acrylic stickers off the van. Not easy! Kudos to Juli for returning for round two even though she knew what lay in store.
Kanika lead the way cleaning the inside of the van, and I joined her when my finger nails gave up on me and I stopped making progress on the stickers. I was using a sponge and a bucket of soapy water, and although the van didn't yet look pristine at the end of the session, the colour of the water was evidence that plenty of grime had been removed!
The weather was just a bit crazy. Hail, rain, sun... between the rain and the pressure washer there was no escape from being wet. When we could get no wetter, we called time and were rewarded with a stunning double rainbow.
Look out for the listing for round three!
Driven Forward use their minibuses to help disadvantaged and vulnerable adults access social events, days out and activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic they have expanded to set up the 'Community Fridge' fresh foodbank and worked with the Windsor Homeless project to feed the homeless.
