Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
8 awesome athletes ran 8k delivering charity sacks and smoke stop support info to the residents of Boscombe.
This week we had a glorious evening, the sky was glowing pink as we met at Urban Reef for a briefing. We'd been asked by British Heart Foundation to deliver donation bags as their Bournemouth charity shop stocks are running low. For them, the money made through these shops is a vital income stream to fund the charity's work into supporting those affected by heart disease. In keeping with the theme, and because this month is STOPTOBER, we also had smoke stop information to deliver. This had been produced by Public Health who are keen to let people know there is support out there if you want to give up smoking.
All the bags and flyers gave us an upper body strength challenge for our run. Big thanks to Caprice and Ross for loading up their rucksacks!
We headed for the lovely big, massive, fancy, mansion-looking houses on the over cliff at Southbourne. Tactically popping the charity donation bags through these letterboxes!
We regrouped at Shelley Park (in the dark!) and performed a plank off. Abi smashed it!!!
We then headed north into the residential parts Boscombe to deliver our STOPTOBER flyers. The houses we visited were an interesting contrast, most being beautiful homes converted into multiple bedsits.
The team made easy work of the flyering task and it was great to be able to chat as we worked. Main topic of conversation is who had the best high viz...yep, Caprice's disco bum bag wins I think!
We zoomed down from the town to the pier and warmed down. I gave a reminder of big pub quiz night this Sunday at the Goat and Tricycle pub at the triangle....we could win cash funds for a xmas party?!!
Next week we have a task at the athletics stadium - hope to see you all there!!!
