Report written by Nicola Marshall
Despite downpours of rain all day, the weather dried up in time for our weekly Goodgym group run.
4 lovely members gathered together to help out on another joint community project- Alley Angels. Volunteers and local residents have been working hard to improve the back alleys of Crewe. The results have been incredible – transforming alleys that were once weed and litter ridden into tidy, vibrant spaces where people want to spend their time.
Tonight it was the turn of Alison, Emily, Maurice & Nicola to get involved. We worked alongside other keen volunteers, local residents and our MP.
After rain all day, the alley was quite muddy and it was our job to get all the dirt from between the small cobbles. It was a great physical task though as lots of elbow grease was required when scraping and shovelling. We filled a fair few bags with the soil and although there’s still lots of work to be done, you can begin to see the start of the transformation.
As the nights are beginning to draw in much earlier and the group was meeting early to maximise the light, we decided to do our run at the end of the evening instead of at the beginning. It was a lovely chatty run and our pace felt much quicker than our watches reported! Lol
We are looking forward to seeing the progress on this fantastic alleyway and hope to be involved in the next clean up session too.
Well done team on another fantastic task completed. You’re all superstars.
