Ring the bells!
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Windsor and Maidenhead.

Today I went to see Mrs J. I walked there and rang the bell a couple of times, but there was no answer. I walked to the front window, hoping that she will see me, still no luck. Then a called her on the phone and luckily, she answered. She was at home, but her door bell was not working. Once I got in, she told me that she had herd some noise she couldn't locate at first. She then enlisted her neighbor's help, and they figured out that it was from the door bell device. They resolved it by removing one of the batteries... She had spare batteries so I replaced the old one(s) with two new ones, tested, and the door bell was happily functioning again. After that, we relaxed a bit and got chatting. Mrs J is looking forward to Christmas, when her 'other' son and his wife, who live up North, will come over and spend a few days with her. Christmas cards are out and she will be busy writing them all. She has a Pen Pal in Canada ever since she was mine years old. She's already got a Christmas card from her, so that and a card accompanied by a letter to her is first in the queue. Sunny, the budgie, was resting today, not interested in joining in the conversation. All in all, a successful visit, I would like to think.
