Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

It seemed that there was something in the air today that didn’t want us all to get to this mission.

Broken bikes, cancelled trains, traffic jams, frantic bus journeys, missing Occupational Therapists, then we found the OT but lost the house keys... you couldn’t make it up!

Thankfully GoodGym spirit never waivers and after a bit of a wait we gained access only to find that the power was out and we were working in darkness!! Maybe we should start packing head torches for day missions as well as evening group runs!

We quickly set to work helping to make space for a hospital chair to be delivered. We had been asked to move two chairs, chest of drawers, boxes of paperwork and... a barrel?!? This was definitely a first for us.

The chairs etc were quick to move however the barrel was full to the brim with food and therefore lifting it was not an option. We had to literally slowly “roll out the barrel” from the bedroom down to the lounge and then we were done.

We definitely spent longer getting there than we did doing the mission, but it was certainly memorable and it meant that the lady could return home from hospital sooner than expected. So it was worth all the effort!
